This was painted because I was stunned visually by the dramatic angle and striking lighting conditions of the subject. I panned in on the rock face to achieve the highest degree of intensity. It was not meant to be as abstract as it turned out to be. Rock faces could be anything, I guess that’s why I like them, they are not predictable. In order for me to paint this subject or a detail of a rock face I have to look and study them individually and intently, I TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED, yet I have a sense of the whole. Thusly, the painting becomes an experience.
This piece is so abstract that I was confused as to which show I should submit it to; therefore it is offered to you for your consideration.
